   The Film List of September

September has passed us by, and it’s certainly been a fine month for warfare of past, present and future.

INGLORIOUS BASTERDS
+: A classic, yet modern dish from the second world war, with a good amount of Tarantino spice for that little extra touch. This is hands down one of the most amazing - and bold (filmwise) - releases I’ve seen the last years, and possibly only Tarantino himself could ever outmatch it. It might not be the best Tarantino flick ever made, but it’s still a near-classic.
-: Putting the positive sides aside, Inglorious Basterds still feels like something we’ve seen and heard before, only longer.
SCORE: 9/10

DISTRICT 9
+: District 9 came out of nowhere, but the impact stayed for weeks. The setting itself is good enough to give it a score way above average, and the superb USE of effects and camera strengthens it. The viewers don’t get to know much about language, weaponary - or mostly anything that has to do with the aliens at all. In my eyes, this is definitly a good thing, despite what the ignorant mass of moviegoers say and mean.
-: The plot line needs a face lift. The way the main character manages to barely slip out of danger when faced with certain death and extreme odds is ridicilous and annoying. The humour really is uncalled for.
SCORE: 8/10

THE HURT LOCKER
+: Never would I have guessed that the story of a squad of mine sweepers could create such a edge-of-the-seat entertainment. One literally gets blown away by the simple storyline that takes the viewers on a journey through a series of mostly unrelated events that rangers of the American army have to go through. As the toughest of the toughest, these hard-boiled veterans face death every day, along with the physical and psychological scars and marks that comes with the job. The simply perfect acting keeps the realism way up high. Maybe I’m being too nice with the numbers, but personally I think it deserves as much praise as I can give it.
-: The main character seems a bit unbelieveable to me, despite the great acting. Not much information is given about any of the squadmembers at all.
SCORE: 9/10

Good month.
